An Alice in Wonderland Theme Birthday!

I always love custom orders, and this one was a lot of fun!  It was created for a little girl turning one year old, who was having an Alice in Wonderland themed party.  My customer wanted their dog included, dressed like the rabbit and wanted a clock to show the time of her daughter's birth.  Here's what I created for her... Sitting approximately 3 1/4" tall, on a base made to look like grass with pretty flowers, she's wearing an Alice in Wonderland style dress and the puppy is wearing rabbit ears, a coat, vest and bow tie.  A giant pocket watch sits beside the dog.

Photo Editing...

As you may already know, photography is a favorite hobby of mine, and since moving to Michigan, I've been enjoying taking photographs of all the beautiful scenery here.  I've also been playing around with some of my photographs using the fun options in PicMonkey (a free photo editing site that my Mom told me about) and Picasa 3...

If you haven't tried either of these, you can click on PicMonkey and Picasa 3, above, to check out the sites... And have fun editing and organizing some of your photos.  It's very easy to navigate around within PicMonkey, I love user friendly sites! Once in PicMonkey, click on "Edit a Photo" and download the picture you would like to edit.  There are all kinds of things you can do... Crop it, re-size it, touch it up, and there are a lot of cool 'Effects' and 'Overlays' ~ There are fun fonts too, so you can add wording...  Once you have your picture the way you like it, just SAVE it and you're set to go.

To learn my way around in PicMonkey, I downloaded a picture and tried all of the options on the photograph, just to get familiar with the site.  Below I have shared some of the photographs that I have edited.  The first picture is of a log and flowers that I took in our yard and then edited in PicMonkey... I darkened the edges, saturated the colors a bit, and added a frame around it.  Next is a photograph that I took of a butterfly and below it are two copies using different effects.  The first effect is called "Daguerreotype" ~ I like the look of it.  For the next one I used "Holga" effect, then I added frost edges, darkened the edges and added a frame.  Scroll down, below the log and butterfly photographs and there is a picture of Emmi, along with the same picture after using "Pencil Sketch" in Picasa 3... I thought it turned out kind of cool.  :)   Which ones do you like?

After adding some effects... made for a more dramatic look.

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥ I have Picasa 3 downloaded and use it to organize my photographs.  There are some options for cropping and touching up photographs, and I used PicNic (within Picasa) when it was there as an option.  I searched for other photo editing sites when I learned that PicNic was closing down.  I found a couple that were okay, but I was so glad when my mom told me about PicMonkey.  Have fun!  ~Trina

A Walk Around Our Yard

The weather here has been absolutely gorgeous, so I ventured away from my studio this past weekend and we spent some time outside in our yard. I thought I'd share some pictures that I took while we were enjoying the beautiful afternoon.

 .¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)
(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥  We walked along the creek, the dogs looked for rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels and snakes... Happily I did NOT see any snakes!!  The farm next to us has now been planted.  We think it's corn, so soon we won't have the view that we do right now, it'll be rows and rows of tall corn for a while.  I remember the last time they planted corn, it looked so bare when they harvested it, it took a while for me to get used to the open space again.  I'm wondering what our dogs, Izzy and Emmi will think of the corn when it starts getting tall... Izzy is used to being able to see everything across the farmland and keeps a good eye on all of it, making sure nothing scampers into our yard.  She likes to sit at the edge of our property and watch for the longest time.  She wasn't with us yet the last time they grew corn.

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥  Looking around our yard, one of my favorite trees is our Red Maple, and I also love our Weeping Willows.  I always thought Weeping Willows were such romantic trees, George... Not so much!  He thinks they are a bit messy... He's right, they do shed their leaves a lot!  Among many other kinds of trees in our yard, we have quite a few Black Walnut trees and a few Apple trees... We also have a tree stump in our front yard that has petrified mushrooms on it, so I took a picture of it.

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥ ...Oh, and an update on those baby Robins;  Yes, they really did grow into their very BIG beaks!  Only three of the five are left in their nest now, and one of them ~ anxious to fly ~ tried to get away while we were looking at them.  It seemed like he wasn't quite ready to fly yet, so George put him back in his nest.  They sure grew up fast!
