Rachel's paintings are so beautiful and full of life, I love all of her work!
She is a self taught artist, so amazing!
She definitely captures the soul of the animal in her paintings.
Enjoy!
In the Artist's Own Words:
I am Rachel Parker, a self taught artist. I come from a family of
artists; my mother is a award-winning portraitist and my father is an
award-winning photographer, so art must be in my genes! I've always loved to draw and paint, but never took myself seriously as
an artist. Hmmmm, what could I sell on eBay that would be FUN? One
night, I decided to put a little painting on eBay for $1 and see what
happened. It got bid up to something like $30 and I was hooked; I
didn't sleep at all that night, I was so excited. That was over ten
years ago, and I still love sharing my online art studio with the world.

Rachel says: "Since
I was little I've always felt a connection to animals. I'm convinced
that animals have a soul, and I try to capture that in my work. When you
look into the eyes of an animal, you get a glimpse of their soul.
Hopefully that glimpse will bring peace, and a sense of connection to
the greater world, both human, animal, and spiritual, that is every
where, every day, just waiting to be noticed. I hope my art serves as a
reminder of these things, and celebrates the sanctity of such simple but
profound truths."

Rachel says: "I
don't know what it is about painting cats, but I can't get enough! This
painting is of Sadie, my own personal cat. She is very much the diva,
and knows when the camera is on. She positions herself in front of it
and loves her picture taken. She is very proud to be featured in so many
of my paintings. If I'm painting, she gets jealous of the attention
I'm paying to the watercolor, and tries to get in front of me, as
demonstrated in this video... https://vimeo.com/45790152 "

I love the zebras!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for featuring me!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that black cat! My aunt had one for years, and he was just the coziest little guy ever.
ReplyDeleteYou are so very welcome Rachel! You are SO Talented!
ReplyDeleteI'm a German Shepherd nut - so that first picture certainly hit me between the eyes! The cat one was equally great, and although I've been lucky enough to see Zebra in the wild, have never got that close!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to see them!

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful work! I love those zebras :)
ReplyDeleteLovely work! I especially love the cat....I had a beautiful black cat for 19 years (although he wasn't too beautiful in the end). Whenever I see a black cat I think of Spot! Thanks for sharing another great artist!
