Christmas Ornaments

Wishing you all a Very Happy Holiday Season!  I hope you are all more prepared for Christmas than I am!  I have a feeling I will be rushing at the last minute to get things ready!  I was hoping we would at least have our tree up, decorated and I would be posting pictures by now... Hmmmm!

I have, however, been very busy in my studio and today I thought I would share with you some of the Custom Order Christmas Ornaments that I created.  I had such fun with each one, and soon they will be listed in my Etsy Shop as examples of ornaments I can create for you!

I made this next ornament by covering a glass heart with red clay and added a little Swan and Mouse!  The mouse is hugging the swan and their little noses are touching.  I can make this ornament with any two animals... The possibilities are endless...

Etsy Finds Friday - Rachel Parker

It's **Etsy Finds Friday**
Today I am featuring the
Beautiful Watercolor Paintings
 Created by:
Rachel Parker of
Fine Art by Rachel Parker

Rachel's paintings are so beautiful and full of life, I love all of her work!
She is a self taught artist, so amazing!
She definitely captures the soul of the animal in her paintings.
Enjoy!

In the Artist's Own Words:
I am Rachel Parker, a self taught artist. I come from a family of artists; my mother is a award-winning portraitist and my father is an award-winning photographer, so art must be in my genes! I've always loved to draw and paint, but never took myself seriously as an artist. Hmmmm, what could I sell on eBay that would be FUN? One night, I decided to put a little painting on eBay for $1 and see what happened. It got bid up to something like $30 and I was hooked; I didn't sleep at all that night, I was so excited. That was over ten years ago, and I still love sharing my online art studio with the world.

Rachel says:  "Since I was little I've always felt a connection to animals. I'm convinced that animals have a soul, and I try to capture that in my work. When you look into the eyes of an animal, you get a glimpse of their soul. Hopefully that glimpse will bring peace, and a sense of connection to the greater world, both human, animal, and spiritual, that is every where, every day, just waiting to be noticed. I hope my art serves as a reminder of these things, and celebrates the sanctity of such simple but profound truths."

Rachel says:  "I don't know what it is about painting cats, but I can't get enough! This painting is of Sadie, my own personal cat. She is very much the diva, and knows when the camera is on. She positions herself in front of it and loves her picture taken. She is very proud to be featured in so many of my paintings. If I'm painting, she gets jealous of the attention I'm paying to the watercolor, and tries to get in front of me, as demonstrated in this video...  https://vimeo.com/45790152 "

Rachel says: "This is a print of my painting of two zebras. Thank you so much to Giovanni at www.flickr.com/photos/giovannimari/ for his wonderful picture, which he took in South Africa (lucky dog). I also have prints and giclees available of this painting."

A Jester Business Card Holder

Quite some time ago I created a little Jester, you can find him in my Etsy Shop!
Here's a picture of him:

.¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)
(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥  Recently a customer saw my Jester in my Etsy Shop and asked if I could make a Jester HAT into a business card holder, or maybe somehow incorporate my little Jester.  After some discussion back and forth I suggested making the Jester holding a frame to lean the business cards on, with his little Jester shoes holding them in place.  She loved the idea and this is what I created for her:

.¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)
(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥  Instead of a frame, I decided on a kind of scroll decorated with the same colors as the Jester's outfit.  I highlighted the black scroll with gold mica powder.  This was such fun to create and it really got my imagination going!  I can see so many of my clay creations becoming business card holders, and I have many new ideas too.  Little by little they will all be making their debut here on my blog and in my Etsy Shop!  In the meantime, look for this Little Jester Business Card Holder to soon be listed in my Etsy Shop.  If you're interested in something other than a Jester for a business card holder, please contact me.  I'd love to work with you to create something really special to hold your business cards!  And what a GREAT gift a personalized Business Card Holder would be!!

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥  I would love to hear your ideas!  What little figures would you like to see me create into business card holders?  Click HERE to see my Jester Business Card Holder in my Etsy Shop.

Gnomes!

These Gnomes were such fun to create!  They were a custom order purchased as a wedding gift for a couple who collects Gnomes.  They stand approximately 6 1/2" tall and are dressed in wedding attire.  The base was made with glitter in the clay and sparkles like newly fallen snow.  A bit of glitter is on the tips of their gnome hats and on the plaque to give the feel of winter.  The piece was antiqued to bring out the design and to give it an aged feel.  These Gnomes will soon be listed in my Etsy Shop, click HERE to see more of my clay creations.
