Etsy Finds Friday - Kate Tracton Designs

 It's **Etsy Finds Friday**
Today I am featuring the
Fine Art Jewelry
Created by:
Kate Tracton
of Kate Tracton Designs

"Attention to detail, high-quality craftsmanship,
and beautiful embellishments make each
of her pieces a work of art."

In the Artist's Own Words:
Entirely self-taught, I've been making beaded jewelry in my home studio since 2004, specializing in complex beadweaving and bead embroidery.

In December 2009, I added polymer clay to my materials arsenal. Making jewelry using the millefiori, or caning, process is very exciting and fulfilling. I build colorful beads and jewelry which I sell here on Etsy, on my website, and at craft shows.

Years ago, an accident provided me an opportunity to explore the process of creating jewelry as works of art. From the early days of simply stringing beads together to make pretty patterns, to currently using polymer clay as a basis for spectacularly beaded wearable art, each day I spend in my studio is a joyful experience.

Beadwoven Necklace, Raku Button, Teal Blue
 Beadwoven Necklace
Kate used a beautiful porcelain raku-fired button as the central focus of this sparkly necklace. The button has a shiny glaze with a rainbow of color from copper to seafoam green to red. The neck strap is a double spiral rope with Czech fire-polished crystals and beads carefully color-matched to the button. Glass seed beads add dimension and subtle color. The ropes are finished with copper bead caps and copper melon beads

Asian Inspired Polymer Clay Pendant
Asian Inspired Polymer Clay Pendant
Kate says that this pendant reflects her love of polymer clay. The central motif is made from a slice from a kaleidoscope cane with floral-textured blue clay surrounding the pink motif. The frame is a piece of black clay sporting a stippled texture. The finishing touch is a pair of metallic gold clay knots.

Polymer Clay Drum Bead Necklace
Polymer Clay Drum Bead Necklace
Kate's most intricate polymer clay drum bead, so far, is the central feature of this colorful necklace. The bead was made from slices of several different clay canes: flowers, bullseye lace, and finished up with leaves of yellow, orange, and brown. The bead was baked, sanded, buffed, and coated with acrylic for a glossy shine. The finishing touch are five Swarovski flatback crystals for added sparkle.

Polymer Clay Ring Bowl, Navy Blue, Tomato Red, White
 Polymer Clay Ring Bowl
Kate made this charming little ring bowl from one of her kaleidoscope canes which she then edged with a playful striped border. The tomato red under layer serves both as visual interest and reinforcement of the bottom of the bowl. A set of navy blue feet add a sassy attitude. After curing, Kate sanded the interior of the bowl to a satiny smooth finish.

Etsy Finds Friday - Delicious Hobo

It's **Etsy Finds Friday**
Today I am featuring the
Handsculpted  Whimsical
Polymer Clay Jewelry
By:
Delicious Hobo

DeliciousHobo mixes flavor and funk to create whimsical and unique polymer clay jewelry.  From octopi to dragons, this shop specializes in amplifying the ordinary and exploring the extraordinary.

Here's what the artist says about her work:
I'm highly addicted to crafting. First and foremost, I love to make wearable art. My passion for painting, sculpting, and accessories has given birth to my one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Every item that I sell has had a great deal of time and dedication put into it. Many of my pieces are made over the course of several days – clay molding, baking, sometimes sanding and/or painting, sealing, and assembling. All my polymer clay pieces are handmade. I don't use texture sheets, stencils, molds, or anything other than my hands and a couple tools. Therefore, each item is not only one of a kind, but is also a representation of my artistic dedication.

The Last Unicorn Necklace
The Last Unicorn Necklace
This mystical creature is not only beautiful, but completely one-of-a-kind. It was hand-sculpted out of polymer clay, and then hand painted with shimmering acrylic paints. It's eye is a shiny, Czech glass bead, adding a soulful look to it's face.

If I Only had the Courgage...Lion Necklace
If Only I had the Courage ~ Lion Necklace
This adorable lion was hand-sculpted out of polymer clay and given a shiny nose and eyes with high gloss sealer. With sad eyes, shimmering gold fur, and movable legs and arms, it truly makes a courageous statement.

Cherry Blossom Branch Necklace
Cherry Blossom Branch Necklace
This necklace is sweet and delicate, yet still makes a bold statement. The pendant was hand-sculpted out of polymer clay, and then the flowers were painted with acrylic paints and sealed with a shiny finish. At the center of each flower are faux pearls.

Tree Cameo Necklace
Tree Cameo Necklace
This one of a kind necklace represents the beauty of nature captured in a rustic frame. The scene was hand-sculpted out of shimmering polymer clay and sparking gemstone stars. The frame was transformed from shiny gold acrylic to elegantly aged, using texture paints and acrylic paints to give it a rusty look.

Melody O Designs - Wearable Art from Polymer Clay

It is my pleasure to feature the beautifully designed and incredibly detailed jewelry created by Anita Brandon of Melody O Designs.  Anita recently opened a studio on ArtFire, but I have admired her work ever since I first saw it!  Her love of creating her jewelry shows in each piece, you can see the special attention to the tiniest of details, each so beautifully handcrafted. As you enter her ArtFire Shop, Anita welcomes you to her studio, where  "magical" butterflies and ladybugs abound and where each colorful handcrafted piece has been designed to bring you joy and good cheer.

Anita has been creating original design jewelry from artist-quality polymer clay for 14 years. She began by making pieces to compliment vintage clothing outfits when she was unable to find things for sale that she liked. She has been honored to have her work featured in the pages of "PolymerCAFE" magazine, and at "Polymer Clay Daily", "ClayPlayCafe" and "tonjastreasures". In her "other life" she is a professional musician (an oboist) and former university music professor. It is Anita's hope that her jewelry creates smiles........ both for the wearer and the viewer. To find out information on how some of her pieces were made, please visit her at her blog: http://www.melobeau.blogspot.com

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥ Here are a few of Anita's jewelry pieces and the descriptions she wrote about each one.  Directly below each picture is the title of the piece, which you can click on to see its listing in Anita's ArtFire Studio.  Enjoy!  (It was very difficult for me to choose ONLY a few of her pieces to feature here today!)

"Mr. Orange Kitty is handmade entirely from artist-quality polymer clay with the exception of the hairbrush bristles that are used for whiskers. Many of the details including the eyes are made from homemade canes. My cat collection was made to honor a most beloved fur person named Stormy who now resides in catnip heaven."

"I remember the joy and excitement of the fiestas that I experienced as a child and wanted to capture that feeling in a necklace to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Though it is often mistaken for fine Italian glass when I wear it, the beads and all the tiny, intricate designs were painstakingly crafted by hand from artist-quality polymer clay…...... and whenever I wear it, THIS necklace gets NOTICED!"

"These earrings were designed to look like they were crafted from the Sedona red rocks where my husband and I often hike, but are made entirely from PREMO polymer clay with the addition of a tiny bit of REAL "magical" Sedona RED ROCK DUST embedded in their matrix."

"Designed to look like they were crafted from the Sedona red rocks where my husband and I often hike, these beads are handmade from artist-quality polymer clay with the addition of a tiny bit of REAL "magical" Sedona RED ROCK DUST embedded in their matrix."

"I love Monarch butterflies, blue Morning Glory flowers and ladybugs. The necklace and caned Monarch is handmade from artist-quality polymer clay. Now that I live in Arizona I no longer have Morning Glories in my garden, but I certainly enjoy wearing them around my neck!"

Etsy Finds Friday - Eva Thissen

It's **Etsy Finds Friday**
Today I am featuring the wonderful
Hand Appliqued Polymer Clay Jewelry
created by:
Eva Thissen

~* Here's what the Artist says about her Jewelry *~
"I am an artist experimenting in jewelry design. Most of my works are made of polymer clay. They are carefully crafted by myself to make every item unique. I hope that each piece shows the delicate balance between conceptual exploration and attention to detail."

"My early works were hand-painted polymer pendants. I still like the idea to treat my polymer clay pendants as canvas for my 'painting', as I later learned this 'relief painting' technique, to give more dimensional feeling to the pictorial pendants. The method is known as 'appliqued technique'. Using tiny pieces of clays and a sharp needle, I 'embroidered' imageries of flower garden, with birds and butterflies, on my polymer clay. I want to make people happy when they see my jewelry."
