Hi! I'm Elly from Art-Studio Visnya. I'm a ceramics artist who loves making people smile through my sculptures and jewelry. I have designed and hand crafted ceramics over the past 10 years.

Art-Studio Visnya was started by my father Valentin Vishnevsky more than 40 years ago.  Now Studio Visnya - is a family team of 4 artists - Valentin, Elly, Valery & Vik.  Working in our studio, we create one-of-a-kind ceramics pieces.  Our ceramic sculptures are in collections in the Israel, U.S., France, Australia, Russia, Germany, Iceland, Canada, U.K.   

 

**In their Etsy shop you will find handmade one-of-a-kind and limited edition artisan jewellery and original handmade ceramics by our studio artists. There are no two identical things, whether it be sculptures, vases, objects or handmade beads and pendants.

Etsy Finds Friday - Wood Art by Darlene

Fantastic Wood Art

Darlene Janora's artwork is a form of Intarsia which translates to wood mosaic. She starts with a single piece of wood. The picture is drawn directly onto the board. Then each piece is cut, sanded, shaped and painted/stained and glued back together.  Shims are applied to certain areas to give it a 3-D look. 

 

This wonderful Wood Artwork that Darlene has created caught my eye and captured my imagination the minute I saw it!  Her pieces are bright and happy, very special.  Enjoy!

In the Artist's Own Words:

I started the art of scrolling about 13 years ago. I am self taught through books and videos. I have seen many pictures of Intarsia and decided I liked it best however, I prefer bright coloring as opposed to the natural wood tones. So I combined acrylic painting using the wood as my canvas.  Some people make a strong point to mention that their work is all the wood, no painting or stains. I personally think the bright colors are more appealing on some pieces. It also takes an extra step and some paintbrush skills are needed.
 

Another hobby of mine is learning fun facts, that I share with you in some of my listings. I hope you find them interesting and entertaining.

The tree frog sleeps during the day. It is thought that their eyes are red, so when awoken by predators when their eyes open that it startles them and gives the frog a change to get away.

There are seventeen species of hummingbirds in North America. Hummingbirds flap their wings 50 to 200 times per second. Generally the faster time is in courtship. They can fly up, down, right, left, backwards, upside down and even loop-de-loops! Amazing!

I fell in love with Florence Niven's darling Glass Angels from the moment 

I first visited her awesome Etsy Shop.  Her Angels are beautifully 

detailed and have such a sweetness about them!  

It is my pleasure to feature her beautiful work today.

 

In the Artist's own Words:

My background is in Graphic Design and Illustration. In 2000, I took a stained glass course that completely changed the direction of my work. Since then I’ve replaced my paint brush with a glass cutter. I now work full time as a glass artist, focusing primarily on the endless possibilities of fused glass.

I design and handcraft each piece of my glass art. The individual pieces are cut, layered and kiln fused at approximately 1400 degrees F. The same amount of care goes into each design and every piece that leaves my studio is unique.

Faith

Guardian Angel Fused Glass Ornament 

I'd like to introduce sweet little Faith. So delicate, so feminine. This adorable little angel is the perfect reminder that we are surrounded by angels. As you can see, Cherish has just had her hair done and is ready to sing in her heavenly choir. Notice the little star button adorning her hair - oh, so cute!!  The pieces of glass that make up this little guardian angel ornament have been hand cut by me, layered and kiln fired - just long enough to fuse the glass together without losing the dimension of the layers.   All of my designs are original - the only patterns I use are my own. 

 Precious Baby Boy Angel

The perfect little keepsake to remind us that we are surrounded by angels. Makes a sweet gift for new baby, adoption or baptism. Also a gentle hug for moms facing a loss. The pieces of glass that make up this little guardian angel ornament have been hand cut by me, layered and kiln fired - just long enough to fuse the glass together without losing the dimension of the layers.

My Angel Cake Topper

I just completed this adorable Angel Cake Topper for a customer, for her daughter's baptism cake.  I am so pleased at how it turned out.  My customer said the cake is going to be peach and she wanted peach flowers, yellow birds and the angel dressed all in white.  I added peach flowers to her white gown, and her sweet little heart shaped wings were stamped with a pretty flower, vine and heart design.  I highlighted her wings with gold mica powder to enhance the design.  She is holding a cross and has a golden halo adorned with little peach flowers, which match the flowers on her dress.  I also highlighted the vines and leaves in the grass with gold mica powder, and placed three little birds among the flowers.  One of the birds is a baby bird, looking up at her mama.  This was such fun to create and I sure hope my customer will be happy with it!
