A Dragon Wedding Keepsake...

Here it is, after the sneak peeks, it's all finished, and my customer's are very happy with it, which makes me very happy!!!  They were married over a year ago and wanted a special keepsake to display in their home, and here it is!  The dragon is about 8" wide, 8" long, and 4" tall...

When my customers received the Dragon Keepsake, they sent me this sweet email:

"OH Trina it is so BEAUTIFUL!! We just love it! All the little details are just perfect.
I don't have the words to tell you how happy we are with our keepsake.
I will make sure to show as many people as possible and let them
know who to go to if they ever need something like this done."

Receiving emails and feedback like this is what makes what I do even more worthwhile!  I appreciate every one of my customers, and enjoy every second of creating these wonderful and special pieces!

Here are some pictures from the Sneak Peeks, as I was creating it...

A Sneak Peek - Part III

Well, my Dragon Wedding Keepsake custom order is coming along so nicely, and the dragon now has his wings!  But first are a few pictures from Sneak Peeks I and II, so you can see how it's progressed so far.

The Dragon

The Dragon with the Bride and Groom

...And below are today's photographs...
For the wings, I created a foil and wire armature first.  After sculpting the clay over the armature to create the wings, I attached them to the dragon with wire.   I also created the brides beautiful cascading bouquet and the detail work on the grooms shirt...

The wings span approximately 8" and they make such a great backdrop
for the bride and groom.  I used a copper color mica powder on the wings
to add dimension and bring out the detail...

The bride's hair is pulled back in a double set of braids that come together in a bun.
White flowers are placed in in her hair as well.

You can click the following links to see Part I and Part II of my 'Sneak Peek' posts,
and soon I will share photographs of the finished piece...

A Sneak Peek - Part II

I am in the process of creating a Dragon wedding keepsake for a customer, and am enjoying this project so much!  You can see more about the very beginning of my dragon HERE, in Part I.  Today I am sharing a little more of the piece as it begins to 'come to life'!  I have created the bride and groom and placed them on the dragon's back.  The groom will be holding a shield and a special braided rope that is in the colors of both the bride and groom's family crests.  The bride will be holding a gorgeous cascading bouquet.

Here's a picture from Sneak Peek I, just the dragon...

...And below is the dragon with the bride and groom added...

To be continued...  Part III will be the addition of the dragon's wings as well as some of the finishing touches on the bride and groom...

A Sneak Peek - Part I...

I am in the process of creating a Custom Order Dragon Wedding Keepsake, and I thought I would share a sneak peek with you today...

My customers were married over a year ago and they had something similar on their castle wedding cake, made of fondant.  They wanted to know if I could create a clay keepsake, so they can display it in their home.  This is my version of a dragon, and I'm creating the bride, groom, their attire and flowers based on their wedding pictures that they sent to me.  They had a Renaissance style wedding and there are so many fun details to create in clay!

In these photographs the dragon is looking over the edge, but I am changing that, he will be laying flat.  I am very inspired to create another dragon looking over the edge... Hmmmm... That may be my next big clay creation!  This dragon will have a bride and groom sitting on his back and he'll have wings...  He's about 6" wide (from one foot to the tip of his tail on the other side) and 8" long right now.  Once the bride, groom and wings are added, the piece will be just approximately 4" tall and 8" wide.

I've been sculpting with polymer clay for a long time now, and it is still so much fun to take a lump of clay, some wire, foil and other goodies, and make all of it become a piece of art!  I love to see my clay creations come to life, and funny as this sounds, I grow attached to them and miss them when I send them off to their new homes!

The most rewarding part of what I do is when I receive a note or feedback from my customers letting me know they are pleased with their piece.  It makes what I do that much more worthwhile!  I enjoy creating every detail and appreciate every one of my AWESOME Customers!!!

...There will be more photographs to come, as I progress further on this fun Dragon Wedding Figurine/Keepsake!!!  I hope you'll 'stay tuned'! :)

Gnomes!

These Gnomes were such fun to create!  They were a custom order purchased as a wedding gift for a couple who collects Gnomes.  They stand approximately 6 1/2" tall and are dressed in wedding attire.  The base was made with glitter in the clay and sparkles like newly fallen snow.  A bit of glitter is on the tips of their gnome hats and on the plaque to give the feel of winter.  The piece was antiqued to bring out the design and to give it an aged feel.  These Gnomes will soon be listed in my Etsy Shop, click HERE to see more of my clay creations.
