Beach Theme Wedding Cake Toppers!!

Beach theme wedding cake toppers are so popular, no matter what time of year it is!  Great for destination weddings being held somewhere tropical too!  Here are a few that I recently created...

Bride, Groom and Golden Doodle

A Beach Theme Wedding Cake Topper... A Miniature Hat Challenge!

I am so pleased at how this topper turned out!  My customer's fiance always wears a John Deere hat and she wanted a likeness of the hat on the groom incorporated in her topper.  This was a challenge for me, I'm used to working on a much larger scale and the space on the hat is barely a half an inch long and is just under a quarter of an inch tall... I think the likeness of the John Deere logo turned out pretty good, especially for having such a small space to work with.  I have a huge appreciation and admiration for the polymer clay artisans who create miniatures!!

It's so funny, I get kind of attached to my little clay creations while I am creating them!  After I am finished creating them, they sit on my work table 'visiting me' as they cool and dry, after curing and painting them... So, when I box them up and get them ready to ship to their new homes I really miss them!  LOL!  I'm glad to have the pictures...  Anyway, here's my newest Beach Theme Wedding Cake Topper, complete with a likeness of a John Deere hat:

Scuba Diving Wedding Cake Topper

Complete with a Scuba Tank and Dive Fins, this cake topper celebrates an important part of the couple's life together!  The bride's dress is embellished with silver sparkly beads and tulle that peeks out.  Her bouquet is a lovely combination of pinks, whites and ivory.  His tux is classic black with a white shirt, ivory vest and tie.  There is a heart with their wedding date written in the sand and a little starfish decorates the base.  This topper will be listed soon in my Etsy shop:  Trina's Clay Creations, as an example of a Wedding Cake Topper I can create for you!  It stands approximately 5" tall on a 4" oval base.

I love the earthy organic feel to Roberta's beautiful porcelain pieces 

and am happy to feature her here today!

In the Artist's Own Words:
I have always been attracted to natural objects, at least as long as my clothing has had pockets. My carved and sometimes gestural pieces are intimate forms that fit and feel good in the hand. While they are generally not representations of actual objects, they reflect the shapes, patterns, colors and surfaces that I am drawn to in nature.

I was introduced to porcelain about 14 years ago and we’ve been inseparable since then. I use a combination of wheel thrown and handbuilt forms that are altered, carved and sprigged. With a variety of airbrushed matte and gloss glazes that enhance the surfaces, the pieces are fired to a high temperature in a gas kiln, cone 10 reduction, around 2340 F.

I have many works in process and will be adding them as they come out of the kiln. Each one I've listed is made individually by hand by me.

Little Crabs in the Sand!

I have been working on several custom orders this past week and I finished this one and wanted to share it with you.  I had such fun creating these two little crabs sitting next to their initials written inside a heart in the sand!!  With a starfish beside them, they are happy in love, enjoying an afternoon on the sandy beach.
