Our Furry Babies in the Snow...

It's cold, 4 degrees this morning, and we are expecting a high of 23 degrees today, but at least the sun is out.  Izzie and Emmi have differing opinions about the snow.  Izzie LOVES it, she runs through it, rolls in it, and isn't in much of a hurry to come inside.  Emmi, in her little coat, HATES the snow.  She stands at the door, looking up at me like she's asking why she has to go out there... She stays inside the path that is shoveled for her, or at least very near the path, and she rushes back inside as quickly as she can.  Although, as I've said before, if she sees a squirrel out there she would run after it and not pay any attention to the snow.  With her ears flying in the breeze and her feet kicking up the snow, she tries her best to catch those squirrels.  It's funny!!  The other thing she likes is when daddy is outside with them... They both love it when he tosses snowballs, they run and try to catch them as they break apart in their mouths, it's cute.  Emmi doesn't pay any attention to the fact that she's in the cold snow when she's playing with daddy!!  When it's this cold outside though, they can't be out too long, their paws can't take the cold snow too long.  I know they have doggie boots, but neither of our dogs would like that very much! lol!  Emmi is a good sport about her coat, but that's about all she would go for!

Fall Wedding Cake Toppers

Well, I sure have been creating a lot of new Wedding Cake Toppers recently, and have listed most of them in my Etsy Shop already.  (You can click HERE to see the Wedding Cake Topper section in my shop.)  I'll be posting each of my new toppers here, on my blog, as well.  I love creating wedding cake toppers, it is such fun to 'bring to life' the ideas my customer's have for their cake toppers!  My customers are AWESOME, and I am so thankful for each one of them!!!!

Today I thought I'd start off with two toppers that are for Fall/Halloween inspired weddings, and one new Dog Topper.  I haven't had the chance to list the three of these in my shop yet, but will be listing them soon.  

First is a topper with the bride wearing 'Dorothy shoes' and the groom in a Frankenstein mask...  Maybe the couple met at a Halloween party, dressed as these characters... Or maybe this is how they will dress up for their first Halloween as a married couple...  Either way, it's a fun wedding cake topper, and I had such fun creating it.  I love how her dress is hiked, up so you can see her Red Ruby Slippers!!  Of course, every time I make a new topper, SO MANY ideas start popping into my head, inspiring many new clay creations!!  When I made this one, I thought it would be really fun to make a bride, with her dress hiked up, revealing her cowboy boots...  Hmmm, yes, that would be very cool, must make that one!

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥  This next topper is a Superhero themed topper... The couple's favorite Superheros are dressed in their wedding attire.  Flames are all around the Firestar Bride, and she's holding a bouquet of fire as well.  The Green Lantern Groom is holding his lantern and wearing his ring. There are a lot of different Superheros out there... So many different possibilities for wedding cake toppers...

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥  A Red, White and Blue Wedding... These adorable puppies are sitting on a red, heart shaped base, with their tails entwined... He has a red poppy in his mouth, looking so cute in his top hat!  She has a blue flower tucked by her ear.  Instead of a likeness of the bride and groom for a cake topper, the bride and groom's pets, or favorite animals, always make great cake toppers too!!

Fun Pictures!

I usually have two visitors each afternoon in my studio... Emmi and Izzie... And they are usually quite boring visitors as they sleep the afternoons away while I am working on my clay creations.  But sometimes they are so very quietly funny and entertaining, in the afternoons, in my studio!  I always have my camera with me in my studio and sometimes I capture some funny pictures of Emmi and Izzie.  I thought I'd share a couple today.

This is Emmi's bed...

Emmi got up and went into the kitchen to get a drink of water.

Izzie does have her own bed, but both of them seem 

to prefer the other one's stuff more than their own.

That goes for toys, food... Well, just about everything!

 And outside our babies are just as funny...

Emmi is a born hunter, always looking for little critters.  She heard rustling under the twigs in the fire pit and, wanting to explore further, she stepped right in to have a better vantage point.  Perched there, right in the middle of the fire pit, I thought it was the cutest picture.

A Summer Wedding

It's winter, it's cold and it looks gray and dreary outside... So, it was fun to create this custom Wedding Cake Topper with it's bright, beautiful flowers for my customer's upcoming summer wedding!!  It brought some lovely colors into my studio as I was creating the bouquet.  This topper will be listed in my Etsy Shop, as an example of a Wedding Cake Topper I can create for you!  I can personalize the attire and flowers to match your wedding, as well as hair color, eye color and add likenesses of your pets too!

Snow!

A snowstorm came through here beginning on Thursday evening and ending mid morning on Friday... We got about a foot of snow and because of all the wind, we also got some pretty big and deep drifts!  One of which was right in front of the garage door, delaying my drive to work.  George shoveled me out and off to work I went.  Once the storm passed it was beautiful, the sun came out and the snow glistened as the sun shined on it.  I love the look of a blanket of untouched snow, especially when the sun is out, so pretty... So peaceful.  

One of our dogs, Izzie, LOVES the snow.  She lays in it, rolls in it, pounces like a puppy in it... But Emmi, she HATES the snow, and the look on her little face when she begins to walk outside and sees snow that's taller than herself... Well it's priceless, makes me smile!  So, just like every winter that Emmi has lived with us, George shoveled a nice path for her.  She's been sick, poor Emmi.  She got some kind of virus and is just beginning to feel better, so it surprised me that today she veered off her path and jumped right into the snow to join Izzie in play!  We were so happy to see her wanting to play.  George threw snowballs and they ran and jumped after them, it was so cute!  So I ran in the house to grab my camera in hopes to capture the moment...

I swear she looks like she's asking, "What is this crap?"

But sometimes, like today, Emmi plays in the snow!

...And then Emmi hightails it back to the warm house!

A Miniature Hat Challenge!

I am so pleased at how this topper turned out!  My customer's fiance always wears a John Deere hat and she wanted a likeness of the hat on the groom incorporated in her topper.  This was a challenge for me, I'm used to working on a much larger scale and the space on the hat is barely a half an inch long and is just under a quarter of an inch tall... I think the likeness of the John Deere logo turned out pretty good, especially for having such a small space to work with.  I have a huge appreciation and admiration for the polymer clay artisans who create miniatures!!

It's so funny, I get kind of attached to my little clay creations while I am creating them!  After I am finished creating them, they sit on my work table 'visiting me' as they cool and dry, after curing and painting them... So, when I box them up and get them ready to ship to their new homes I really miss them!  LOL!  I'm glad to have the pictures...  Anyway, here's my newest Beach Theme Wedding Cake Topper, complete with a likeness of a John Deere hat:
