Etsy Finds Friday - Lampwork Glass Artist

Welcome to **Etsy Finds Friday** ~ Today I am featuring an amazing Lampwork Glass Artist, Roger Child.  I have always been fascinated by Lampwork Glass and have admired his work since I first saw it on Etsy.

In his Etsy Shop Announcement Roger Child says
"I discovered lampworked glass during the summer of 1998 and instantly fell in love with the magic of working hot glass in the flame of a torch. Inspired by nature and fantasy, my beads, marbles and sculptures are handmade one at a time by me using lampworking techniques. No molds are used, making each piece unique. They are made from Moretti Italian glass, Lauscha glass, Borosilicate glass or any other glass that I can get my hands on." You can read more about Roger Child and see more of his unique and beautiful Lampwork Glass creations by visiting his Etsy Shop:  GLR's Lampworks ~ Unique Art Glass by Roger Child... Enjoy!

"Metal" Challenge...

One of our PCETeam leaders presented a challenge for our members to do during the month of February.  It's a 'Stretch Yourself Challenge' and we are to somehow incorporate metal into a piece we create, maybe create something we normally wouldn't make. We could do faux metal, make something out of polymer clay that would normally be made of metal, we could also use metal with the clay for a mixed media piece, whatever we want as long as there is some kind of tie in to metal. So, with this in mind, I created this little faux bronze/metal flower pot and added two flowers and a cute little Humming Bird.  For the bronze/metal look of the flower pot, I used mica powders on black polymer clay after stamping in a leaf and swirl design.  I LOVE Humming Birds and have never attempted to make one out of polymer clay before... I was wanting to somehow create a Humming Bird and incorporate the metal challenge ~ At first I was thinking of doing the entire piece to look like metal, but then I kind of liked the color combination I came up with here... Now that I've made this one, I have a lot of other ideas for more!  I just love how one creation gets my imagination going to the next creation! :)
