Hello!! As many of you know, I am a member of The Polymer Clay Enthusiasts Team on Etsy (PCETeam). Each month the team members can participate in challenges presented at the beginning of the month. For July, one of the challenges was to create something with a 'Back to School' theme. With my daughter's visit here, and being busy with summer activities, work and life itself, I thought I was going to run out of time to participate in this challenge. July seemed to fly by and here we are at the last day of the month. Talk about getting my challenge piece in 'just under the wire'!!! LOL! I had the idea in my head all month, I thought of it when I heard what the challenge was. I was so pleased with how it turned out and hope you enjoy seeing it. Introducing: "Ready for My First Day of School"
This darling little freckle faced boy is sitting atop two big books (of course I had to have one of the books be titled 'ART'). His little red backpack is sitting behind him and he's holding a great big pencil. I antiqued the piece to bring out the details.
As I was making this piece, I was remembering each of my kids' first days of school... Such wonderful memories I have of those days! :) I thought this would be a sweet figurine to have ~ to commemorate a child's first school days, and it would also be a darling cake topper!
