A Jester Business Card Holder

Quite some time ago I created a little Jester, you can find him in my Etsy Shop!
Here's a picture of him:

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥  Recently a customer saw my Jester in my Etsy Shop and asked if I could make a Jester HAT into a business card holder, or maybe somehow incorporate my little Jester.  After some discussion back and forth I suggested making the Jester holding a frame to lean the business cards on, with his little Jester shoes holding them in place.  She loved the idea and this is what I created for her:

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥  Instead of a frame, I decided on a kind of scroll decorated with the same colors as the Jester's outfit.  I highlighted the black scroll with gold mica powder.  This was such fun to create and it really got my imagination going!  I can see so many of my clay creations becoming business card holders, and I have many new ideas too.  Little by little they will all be making their debut here on my blog and in my Etsy Shop!  In the meantime, look for this Little Jester Business Card Holder to soon be listed in my Etsy Shop.  If you're interested in something other than a Jester for a business card holder, please contact me.  I'd love to work with you to create something really special to hold your business cards!  And what a GREAT gift a personalized Business Card Holder would be!!

Gnomes!

These Gnomes were such fun to create!  They were a custom order purchased as a wedding gift for a couple who collects Gnomes.  They stand approximately 6 1/2" tall and are dressed in wedding attire.  The base was made with glitter in the clay and sparkles like newly fallen snow.  A bit of glitter is on the tips of their gnome hats and on the plaque to give the feel of winter.  The piece was antiqued to bring out the design and to give it an aged feel.  These Gnomes will soon be listed in my Etsy Shop, click HERE to see more of my clay creations.

Etsy Finds Friday - Diane Duda

It's **Etsy Finds Friday**
Today I am featuring the
Sweet  Mixed Media
Paintings Created by:

I just love Diane's sweet and charming artwork!

 In the Artist's Own Words:
Mom of three boys who enjoys creating charming little pieces of art. Not even sure that I'm self-taught yet. I'd say I'm still self-teaching. Take a look around and judge for yourself.

Wow. So much has happened since I first opened my Etsy shop and wrote that little blurb above.

I am now a rubber stamp artist for Sugar Nellie, have various other online shops, and a line of figures, shadow boxes and wall art through Demdaco. I never could have imagined any of that in my wildest dreams!  Best of all I've met so many new people through this shop and I still enjoy adding original art each and every week.

Still, those words I wrote when I first opened my shop remain true. Still the mom of three boys and still learning something new everyday.

I had so much fun visiting Crystal's shop, her pieces are fun, unique and whimsical!
Take a peek in her shop, where you'll find fanciful handmade creations
inspired by ornaments and objects from the past.

In the Artist's own Words:
I was born and raised in Saratoga Springs, NY. My father is a hardworking dairy farmer and my mother is a talented artist. My diverse childhood environment proved to be the perfect conditions for a budding artist. Also, my parents always lived modestly which meant scoping out local garage sales from time to time. That was all it took for me to be hooked on all things old and whimsical. Treasure hunting and collecting is now my greatest passion aside from creating "old" and whimsical treasures.

I live in upstate New York with my wonderful husband Ben, kitties Paige and Sophie, three birds and fish. I work full time as a crafter out of the studio on the third floor of my historical home and am pleased to come up with a multitude of new vintage inspired designs each holiday and everyday for you and your loved ones to enjoy.

Crystal specializes in spun cotton, a century old technique used for making holiday ornaments and figures in old world Germany.  She uses many vintage materials and other 100 year old techniques when creating her quirky characters.  Each piece made is either one of a kind or part of an open edition, depending on what materials are available, although each item is unique, being handmade by Crystal.

Etsy Finds Friday - A Twist of Whimsy

It's **Etsy Finds Friday**
Today I am featuring the
Whimsical and Eclectic
Jewelry Created by:
Gayle of
A Twist of Whimsy

Beautiful Handmade Artisan Metal and Gemstone Jewelry!!

In the Artist's own Words:
You should know that I am crazy about designing and crafting jewelry. When I am not working at my full-time job, traveling, keeping house, or spending time with family and friends, I am in my studio sawing, etching, stamping, soldering and hammering. I would love to spend all day in my studio and I’m hoping that someday…well, you know.

I guess you could say my style is eclectic. I think it’s more whimsical than sophisticated, thus the name “A Twist of Whimsy.” I work mostly with metals creating pendants out of copper, sterling silver and brass. But I love gemstones and glass beads and like to include them in my pieces for color and to dress up an otherwise plain chain.

I was thrilled when a local gallery contacted me recently with an interest in my work. If you’re in the Nashville area, you can find some of my pieces at Laurel Leaf Gallery in Leipers Fork.

Layered Necklace Sterling Silver Copper Mixed Metal Green Bronze African Jade Gemstone
Layered Sterling Silver Copper Mix Necklace
Unique sterling silver and copper layered pendant with green and bronze african jade gemstones.  After cutting the pendant shapes, I gently curved them and gave them a torched patina. Dangling from the sterling silver layer is a round african jade gemstone with a hammered tail. Diamond shaped sterling silver Hill Tribe beads and more african jade gemstones along the sterling silver chain add interest. The necklace closes with one of my hand forged sterling silver clasps. All sterling silver and copper has been tumble polished and sealed with Renaissance wax.

Red Etched Copper Earrings Czech Glass Picasso Faceted Beads Domed Metal Discs Architectural Design
Red Etched Copper Earrings Czech Glass Picasso
Etched copper domed discs dangle from mixed cherry red and brown Czech Picasso faceted glass rondelles. The etched pattern on the handcut discs is an architectural design. They hang from copper earwires. The copper has been oxidized and tumble polished.  Length: 1-3/4" (44.4 mm) from curve of earwire.  Discs measure 5/8" (17.1 mm) in diameter.

Red Heart Collage Necklace Copper Resin Pendant Czech Beads Cold Connected
Red Heart Collage Necklace ~ Copper Resin Pendant
The centerpiece of this copper necklace is a red heart collage image sealed in ICE resin and mounted on a copper back cut to look as though the image was torn. The collage was then cold connected to a larger copper back with copper rivets. The pendant hangs from an antique copper chain that features beautiful multi-color fire polished Czech glass beads mostly red and blue with a Picasso finish. Each set of three is separated by a copper heart bead. The necklace fastens with a handmade copper clasp.  All copper has been oxidized to add to the rustic style. Polished and sealed with Renaissance wax.
