BBA February Team Challenge - Red Heart and Rose Trinket Box

This is my first challenge piece for the BBA Team on Etsy.  Because it's a month of love, hearts, and the color red, the challenge was to incorporate red into a new creation.  I'm facing some difficult decisions in my life right now, so I thought I could use the reminder to 'Believe' ~ I stamped the word into gold clay, then created an eyelet edging around it.  I textured the clay on the box and brought the red clay up on the corners of the word Believe, like it's unfolding a special message.  The bottom part of the box is gold, and I mixed red clay with gold clay to create the roses.  To finish it off, I brushed a gold mica powder on it, to make the the entire Trinket Box shimmer.

Red is my favorite color, and this was a fun Trinket Box to create!  I enjoyed the challenge... Every time I create something new I think of so many more things I want to make...  Always so inspired!  If only I had more time...

A Sailor and His Bride

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Wishing you a beautiful day!!

Love is in the air today, especially for this Sailor and his Bride!!  It's a custom order that I created as a gift for a customer's parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary.  What a special keepsake this will be for them!  The groom is dressed in his Sailor uniform, standing proudly next to his bride.  She's is wearing a tea length dress, her bouquet is made up of white roses and one purple orchid, and she's wearing a rose in her hair.  I antiqued the piece to bring out the detail and to give it an aged look.

This Anniversary Cake Topper will be listed in my Etsy Shop as an example of a Cake Topper I can create for you!  You can see more of my of my clay creations by visiting me at my ETSY SHOP and my WEBSITE!  I'd love to see you there!!

Etsy Finds Friday - Cold Porcelain Roses

It's **Etsy Finds Friday**
Today I am featuring the
  Beautiful Roses created by:
  Norma Rudloff
of Dough Roses

Norma's roses are absolutely gorgeous!  I enjoyed reading about how her 'obsession' with 'dough' began... (It's a story similar to mine, I also began sculpting with salt dough!)  :)

I am happy to feature Norma's beautiful work here today!

In the Artist's own Words:
I've been a professional crafter for 27 years. My obsession with "dough" started in 1984 and I spent two years dabbling with salt dough, creating salt dough characters as Christmas ornaments. I stumbled upon a recipe for bread dough two years later.

After creating my first bread dough rose, I was hooked on that craft for over 22 years. Last year I started working in cold porcelain, a modeling compound similar to bread dough but without the bread. That led into my interest in creating jewelry with cold porcelain.

My biggest thrill in all these years came early in my career as a bread dough artist when I watched a butterfly land on a rose, fly off and then fly back to investigate further! I was thrilled to think that I had fooled a butterfly!

 Pink Cold Porcelain Rose Pin
Pink Cold Porcelain Rose Pin
This lovely pink rose pin was handmade from cold porcelain and makes a lovely gift for that lady who has everything (except a pink rose pin). No tools or molds were used in the creation of these flowers. Once formed, they were left to air dry, becoming hard and very durable. The pin is 3" long from tip to tip and about 1 1/4' wide. It can be worn on a jacket, as a hat pin or even for decorative purposes on a purse.

White Floral Bracelet
White Floral Bracelet
Handmade flowers, made from cold porcelain, are combined with clear Swarovski crystals for a bracelet that can be worn anytime, anywhere. This bracelet is 7 1/2" long and has a lovely silver fold over magnetic clasp. . Each petal was made individually by hand, no tools or molds were used in the creation of these flowers which then air dried to become hard and durable.

Yellow and White Floral Cake Topper
Yellow and White Floral Cake Topper
This floral cake topper was handmade from cold porcelain and will last for many years after your special day. That enables you to use your imagination as to how you can use it as part of your decor. Each petal has been shaped by hand, no tools or molds were used in their creation. Once formed, the flowers air dried to become very hard and durable. The cake topper is 5" wide and includes a votive candle holder. The flowers can be cleaned with a damp cloth, a hair dryer or canned air.

The Rose

It's Treasury Tuesday!
I put together a beautiful collection of polymer clay Roses!
 All created by Etsy Artisans!!

Roses are one of my very favorite flowers.  Through the years we've had many beautiful rose bushes,  and I always enjoyed picking bouquets of them to bring in the house.  We've had red rose bushes that produced big roses that looked as if they were made of velvet.  We've had yellow, lavender, salmon, pink and white roses, they filled our yard and home with the most lovely fragrance!  I miss my rose bushes... We really should think about planting some here, to fill this yard with their beauty!!  The rose is so delicate, so fragrant and so beautiful!!

As a flower in the garden
Bending toward the sun,
Unfolds it's tiny petals
One, by one, by one...
So faith expands it's beauty
Until at last it grows
Into life's lasting flower...
The heart's fair perfect rose.
~Rebecca Helmann~

Do not watch the petals fall from the rose with sadness,
know that, like life, things sometimes must fade before they can bloom again.

A Fairy Door...

Our 'Stretch Yourself' Polymer Clay Enthusiast Team (PCETeam) challenge, for the month of March, is to create a Fairy Door.  I had never created a Fairy Door before and couldn't wait to get started on mine.  A little portal into the world of make believe, where anything is possible and everything is sprinkled with sunshine and fairy dust!

On my way to work one day during the week, a flash of a Fairy Door popped into my imagination!  That's what happens when I least expect it... I have a vision of something whimsical and cute ~ and then I can't wait to get my hands on some clay so I can make my vision come to life.  So, at the first chance I got, I sat down in my studio and created the Fairy Door I had imagined, and here it is:

This was a fun challenge for me, and I am looking forward to seeing all the wonderful polymer clay fairy doors that our talented and artistic PCETeam members come up with!  Thank you for taking a peek at my Fairy Door!

Swan Cake Topper and Valentine Figurine!

.¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)
(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥ I've been working in my studio, creating a couple of new items.  The first one is a Swan Wedding Cake Topper that I listed it in my Etsy Shop yesterday.  I had so much fun creating this one, and am especially fond of it!  The little "Lake" is shaped like a heart and the border is outlined with leaves, vines and little stones, all made of polymer clay.  I stamped a heart and vine design into the wings of the swans, which I thought added elegance to the look of them.  Please visit my Etsy Shop, Trina's Clay Creations, to see more pictures of these Swans ~ as well as my other Cake Toppers, Vases, Boxes and Figurines.

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥ My second creation was inspired by my daughter, Melissa.  When she was here visiting at Christmas time, she suggested that I make a little boy in a tux ~ maybe holding flowers.  She thought it would be an adorable Valentines Day figurine.  I loved the idea, and this darling little boy in a black tux was born!  He's holding a box of chocolates and a bouquet of roses.  Still putting some finishing touches on him, I added freckles to his face... I thought that would be cute, with his little tilted head and those BIG eyes looking up.  I'm going to list him in my Etsy Shop later today, and I'm going to name him: "Will You Be Mine?"

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥ Thank you Melissa, for suggesting this adorable Valentines Day Figurine!  And, most of all, thank you for ALWAYS being an amazing inspiration to me!
