I Think Spring is Finally Arriving!

Yesterday was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day here!!  The sun was shining most of the afternoon and there wasn't a cloud in the sky.  The temperature was 65 degrees and it felt perfect!  Sunshine is a rare sight these days, first all that snow and now we are having so much rain. Yesterday I was noticing how green the grass is in many areas.  The green grass against the blue sky was such a wonderful and welcome sight!!  A treat for the senses, really!!  And... We have flowers that are just beginning to pop up around the edges or our yard... Yay!!  I think spring is finally arriving!!!

Due to all the rain, there is quite a bit of flooding here.  We live near the Tittabawassee River and there is a park at the river's edge that is completely under water.  The 26th Annual Walleye Festival is this weekend on this river.  Besides the car show, the good food and all the other festival fun, there's also the main event, which is the fishing tournament, where fishermen compete to catch the largest Walleye.  The overflowing river is very dangerous so they were forced move the competition to other rivers in the area, less swollen from the rains.  Wishing them luck...

Today we were out and about running errands, and even though the clouds are back and it is colder and windy outside, there are buds on the trees and NO snow on the ground... I am LOVING that!!  We did have to take a huge detour to get from our house to downtown Midland, because of the flooding over the roads.  As we were driving along, I had George stop so that I could take some pictures.  I thought I'd share a few of those pictures with you, to give you an idea of how much some areas have flooded.

Today the road ended here...

Can't tell where the river ends and the park begins...

The Park is completely submerged...

Water almost to the rooftop...

Today the soccer field looks more like a lake...

And today this slide looks more like a Water Slide...

Water levels are pretty high here...

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥ Well, more rain is expected tonight, but they say it won't be too much ~ and that's a good thing.  We are very thankful that the water hasn't reached any homes here in our area... Although we do have some water seeping into our basement, it's nothing compared to other areas harder hit.

The weather has been quite destructive all over and my heart goes out to all who have been affected by the recent tornadoes.  Such devastation, my prayers are with them.

  1. I’m so glad that you are finally getting some warmer weather, but very sorry to see all the flooding were you are and all the tornadoes in Alabama its just awful. It does seem that there is a lot more extreme weather now then there was when I was little, I guess it must be global warming:(

P.S All the photos you take are so beautifully captured.

  2. Oh Amy, those tornadoes... just devastating!

The water here is starting to recede, so that is a good thing! I'm happy for the warmer too! :)
