Magical Misty Morning...

The other day, as I was leaving for work, I just had to stop for a moment to take a couple of pictures.  The view around me was kind of magical and misty, and even a bit spooky.  I felt like I was in a scene imagined while reading an Edgar Allan Poe poem.  I half expected to see a Raven fly out of the mist!  Of course, getting lost in picture taking, I was then running late for work.  I am always fascinated by the traffic on the rare days I'm running late! Did I say fascinated? I meant frustrated!  It never ceases to amaze me that when I have plenty of time, I sail through green lights, driving down the road with hardly another car in sight. And I am never stopped by a train.  BUT... Those few minutes, like the misty morning picture taking session, and it sets into motion that frustrating, 'fascinating' traffic pattern!!

As I drive along it seems okay. Yay! This time it's going to be a good drive into work even thought I'm running a bit late... But NO, soon I become sandwiched between, and behind the slowest drivers on the road, I hit EVERY SINGLE red light, (I have a 40 minute commute to work ~ lots of lights) and then ~ as I get closer to work, I hear it... It's in the distance, I turn down my radio to see if I've only imagined it. But there's no mistaking it, there it is loud and clear... It's the train whistle!  And, as I round the corner, there they are... The flashing red lights telling us to stop because the train is coming!  Oh dear.  And isn't it 'funny' how, when the train is almost through the intersection (I can see the end of it) it suddenly it STOPS!  Then it BACKS UP!  Yes, only when I'm running late, but invariably every time... Well, I know, I should have left earlier.  I should have given myself enough time to take the pictures without running late, but I didn't realize how magically misty it was until I got outside.  I really do hope you enjoy seeing the pictures! :)

Magical... Yet Spooky!

  5. Really lovely photos! It does look quite spooky it reminds me of the sleepy hollow film. And it is very typical that when you are running slightly late everything seems to go a little wrong.
