Holiday Figurines and Toppers

The Holidays are fast approaching and I am getting my Etsy Shop ready... Here are a few of the pieces you'll see when you visit Trina's Clay Creations:

Scarecrow Holding Sunflower
Inspired by a Scarecrow that I saw at a Fall Festival years ago in California, I created this one.  The scarecrow in the festival was standing and very tall, taller than me, and he was looking down at a huge Sunflower.  That Scarecrow was an entry in a Scarecrow contest and I can't remember if it was a winner, but I sure thought it should have been.

  Elf Sitting on a Present
One day, while shopping at Michaels (one of my favorite places to shop), I found little wooden blocks.  I thought I could do something fun with them, so I purchased a few.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do... Then my muse visited, a vision came into my head... I thought of making a big beautifully wrapped (clay) present, then I thought it would be so cute to have a little elf sitting on top... So this piece came to life!

Elf Wishing Peace
This little Elf is one of my favorite creations.  I'm not sure why... Maybe it's her sweet little face half hidden under her big hat, maybe it's the Christmas colors... The feel of the holiday, or maybe it's the message: Peace.

My Little Happy Halloween Pig!

Dressed up as a witch for Halloween, this little pig is so happy to have been out Trick-or-Treating and to receive such yummy treats!  His favorite, of course, is the great big lolly pop!!  He's sitting next to his Jack-O-Lantern filled with candy corn and goodies that he can't wait to eat!!  This would be a fun Halloween decoration, cake topper or collectable.  It's approximately 3" tall (to the top of the lolly pop) and sits on a 2 1/2" round base.  You can see the listing in my Etsy shop by clicking HERE!

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ♥ I just finished a custom order and wanted to share it with you!  A customer saw my Fireman and Nurse Wedding Cake Topper in my Etsy Shop and wanted a similar one personalized for their wedding cake.  I had fun creating it for them!!  I'm always honored when someone chooses me to create something special for them!!  The first picture is my 'work in progress' shot of the nurse bride and the groom fireman.

My Polymer Clay Sailor and Lady Bug Picnic!

For the month of June, the Polymer Clay Enthusiasts Team on Etsy (PCETeam) presented two 'Stretch Yourself' Challenges.  The first is to create something Patriotic and the second is to create something to do with a Picnic, both in honor of the summer months and upcoming holidays.  The first of my little creations for the team challenge combined the two... It's A Lady Bug Picnic! :)   You can click on the images to see the listings in my Etsy Shop.

All dressed up in their 4th of July finest, these two little Lady Bugs are enjoying a picnic on their blanket in the grass.  With the tiny basket of fruit for them to munch on, and three yellow roses that he picked for her, they are having a happy day!

Next, here's my little Sailor!  My Grandfather served in the Navy during WWII. Through the years he shared many stories with us about his time in the Military. I was thinking of him while I created this little figurine.  Saluting proudly, this figurine/cake topper stands approximately 3 1/2" tall on a 2" base.

Trina's Clay Creations' Official Website!

Hello Everyone!!  Well... It was a LONG road, but I finally reached my destination!!  I am so happy to announce that I have my Website up and running!!  I'm not kidding, it really has been a long time in the making, two years to be exact... A friend began the process two years ago, and he got it all set up for me.  But I had the most difficult time trying to take it from where he left off... I found it very difficult to navigate within the site.  So, very frustrated, I finally gave up.  Recently my mom steered me in a different direction ~ and I thank her for that ~ because here it is two years later, and I have an official website for Trina's Clay Creations.  I am so happy with how it has turned out!  Please stop by and take a peek at Trina's Clay Creations Website and let me know what you think.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Christmas Custom Orders...

I just finished creating two custom orders, and thought I'd post pictures to share before I mail them out.  The Snowman with the Ice Cream Cone is an ornament to hang.  I can make many of the creations that you see in my Etsy Shop into ornaments. I have a "Snowman With Ice Cream Cone" listed in my shop as a figurine. The buyer who purchased this one, wanted the snowman figurine for her granddaughter (who loves ice cream!) ~ but wanted to know if I could make it to hang on a tree.  It turned out adorable as an ornament.

The Santa is an order to go with a deer that I created.  The deer loves apples, and Santa always has a bag full of things that are much loved! :)  Here's a link, if you'd like to see the deer, and read about my inspiration to create it:

My New Studio and First Treasury... A Busy Weekend!

I have been working on getting my studio set up this weekend... I sure have a lot of 'stuff' here and there, in the basement and in the house!  It does accumulate, and for the longest time I haven't been able to unpack everything, so it feels great to get this done finally.  It will be so nice to have it all in one room and easily accessible!  Thought I would post a "before" picture - and hopefully I will be able to post an "after" picture (of the entire room) soon!  So far, I only have my work area set up.

I took a "time-out" from setting up my studio and I put together my very first treasury on Etsy.  I am a member of the Polymer Clay Enthusiasts Team (PCETeam) on Etsy,  and we have a "Weekend Treasury Challenge" going on this weekend.  I had never put together a treasury before, and had so much fun with this one.  I must say, it was very difficult to pick only 16 items!  So many wonderful creations by so many talented etsians!!!

Let There Be Peace on Earth!

"Elf Wishing Peace" by Trina
While we were out and about all week I noticed the increased hustle and bustle in the stores - and how they are all getting ready for the holiday season.  I have been thinking about how rushed this time of year always feels...  We had been so busy this past week, and all of a sudden, kind of out of the blue, I realized that I'm not coming up for air quite enough.  My moment of realization came on my flight back home from Texas...

We arrived home last night after helping our daughter move into her new apartment.  It is such a cute apartment, and by the time we left there, things were pretty well all set up.  We are very proud, and so happy for her!  And she, of course, is so happy too.  It was difficult to leave there... we were wishing there weren't so many miles between us.  Sure do love modern technology right about now... so easy to keep in touch!  Anyway, the flight home was long.  Her dad and I were tired out.  As we were making our decent into Detroit, we saw the most magical scene out the window!!  It was dark outside, the moon was just a sliver, big and bright... the sky was clear, with a few stars twinkling about... and the city lights below, shined and glistened brightly up at us... it was an awesome sight!  Absolutely beautiful!  I wish...

The Holiday Season is Upon Us!

The holiday season is fast approaching and I have been feeling  inspired to create some Christmas Ornaments.  While I was visiting my mom in Texas last month I purchased some clear glass bulbs. Some are round and some are shaped like hearts.   I have all kinds of ideas... this little sheep was my first creation so far.  I thought it turned out kind of cute and full of whimsy.  I am also working on some canes, and was thinking it would be fun to cover the clear glass bulbs with the cane work.  We'll see how they turn out... we'll see if any are worthy of posting pictures of.  :)

I will be taking a bit of a break from creating for a couple of days though, because my daughter is here visiting!  She arrived last night and we are so happy to have her here!!  We will be pretty busy, packing up her stuff - getting her ready to move into her new apartment in Texas.  Thankfully, I will be kept very busy putting together my studio once she goes back to Texas... it'll keep my mind off how much I will miss her, how far away she is, and how quickly her visit here went by - because visits always do go by far too quickly, don't they?!  Once my studio is set up, then it will be back to playing with clay. :)   In the meantime I will enjoy my daughter... I will enjoy my family being all together!!!  "Precious Moments," to quote a very dear friend!
